About Us

Naika is a Bengali word that means a female hero. I believe every woman is a Naika in their own story and in their individual terms. And I believe that I dress every woman’s personality and attitude because a confident woman is more beautiful everyday.

We, Naika of London celebrate Bangladeshi crafts and design through women’s wear and fashion. This is an online fashion label for any female who appreciates uniqueness and quality craftsmanship for ethical wear. We promote everything that we can collect directly from the manufacturer and we design everything with our own craftsman.

How We Started

The idea of launching Naika of London came to my mind in August 2018. At that time, I was organizing my wedding in the UK. As I was marrying into a different culture than mine, I wanted to share my culture with my other half as we celebrate our unity as he also decided to do the same. Unfortunately it was not as easy for me as it was for him. I had to source everything from Bangladesh and have my office in Dhaka send them to the UK. I couldn’t find anything authentically bengali in the UK. I was born in a family of rich cultural background. So I knew the significance of portraying Bangladeshi traditions to my husband. But while looking for authentic Bangladeshi wear there, I found that Indian and Pakistani clothings were mostly labelled as Bangladeshi clothings to the people in UK. This was so disappointing for me and it was such a stressful situation importing things from Bangladesh.

At that moment, I thought of introducing a brand in UK that would perfectly reflect our Bengali culture in women’s wear and fashion. The main purpose was to introduce the elegance of our local clothes to people living abroad who love Bangladeshi fashion. So it was important to establish our own venture in UK to uphold the reputation of Bangladeshi clothings. It was very rare to find authentic Bangladeshi wear in the UK and that was what intrigued the beginning of Naika.

Each of our individual pieces are handmade with a lot of care and customer satisfaction in mind. Naika prefers to maintain the whole process from scratch. We make no compromise in being assured of where it is coming from? How is it made? Who made it? What are the used raw materials in our clothes?

What We Do

From Stencilling to packaging, we maintain each phase of an outfit production with proper care and supervision.

Stencilling

Fabric Stencilling is a vital production phase that we manage with profound supervision to make an outfit. Making exclusive and complicated patterns is very much possible nowadays with stencilling. With handmade designing techniques, our artisans always bring an elegant outlook on a dress’s fabric. It can always be unique and with so many varieties in design, we always make one attire unique from the other, adopting the ideal stencilling technique.

Hand Embroidery

Embroidery is such a creative technique that varies in style and material over the countries. But one thing is common everywhere, that is tradition and heritage. We operate both hand and machined embroidery processes here in Naika of London to provide your customized dress.

The hand embroidery technique requires profound skill and expertise to make a perfect attire. Our craftsmen possess the proper skill of threading a needle. Also, we make sure the last stitch remains accurate so that the design stays on the fabric. So the basic stitching technique is arguably the most important skill that our craftsmen acquire to finish hand embroidery on a fabric with perfection.

Machine Embroidery

We also perform machine embroidery that brings a professional looking work in a fraction of time. The broad selection of designs available today provides everything that is needed for personal use and for small businesses as well. Our professional embroiderers are expert in applying a wide range of traditional stitching techniques on clothes. With the combination of traditional sewing skills and current software programs, they produce intricate designs on fabrics.

Block Stamp Printing

Naika of London performs Block Stamp Printing which requires high skill and labour to give perfectly intricate designs on fabrics. Many often remain in a dilemma about the perfection of hand printed blocks. But yet, this imperfection is somehow precious and significant for its beautiful appearance on a dress.

However, the expertise of a professional craftsman is crucial to complete the block stamp printing without any error. Our expert craftsman is precise and properly knowledgeable about both fabric and the chemical. And, we make sure to maintain total concentration and focus during the work since even a small error of judgement can cost the whole dress.

Machine Sewing

The Machine Sewing process is regarded as a revolutionary invention in the history of industrialization. Our well-focused craftsmen have strong organizational skills, accompanied by strong manual dexterity and physical stamina to stay efficient throughout the working period. They are determined to take corrective actions and ready to make improvements that help them identify alternative solutions.

Hand Sewing

Naika of London also operates hand sewing to design outfits. Sewing any dress by hand is seen as very precious. Until sewing machines were introduced in the 1900’s, hand sewing was in vogue among people. Yet till now, it has been a decisive artistic skill to make a beautiful dress with an elegant design. One second lapse of concentration can spoil the whole effort of creating a perfect piece. That’s why our skilled craftsmen ensure a touch of care and passion in every handmade sewed product.

Ironing

A well-ironed dress carries the personality of a person and brings a positive impression in front of others. That’s why Naika of London gives importance to ironing a dress after the final product is ready for a fresh and tidy look.

Naika of London serves you with clothes made by both local and international category fabrics along with customized tailoring facility. Designing clothing always starts with a simple idea. But handmade clothing is always regarded as a big investment in one’s thinking and creativity. We aspire in making handmade products with our own craftsman to make wonderful dresses with unique designs.

Naika is an authentic Bangladeshi Brand which is produced in Bangladesh with Bangladeshi Artisan. We will be promoting delicate craftsmanship and unique designs that are fairly and sustainably produced. We pay our artisan fairly and give them a proper work environment. We also produce with the best raw materials and trims available worldwide therefore each of our products is something you can cherish and endeavour.

Currently, Naika is available in the USA, AUSTRALIA and BANGLADESH along with the UK. Naika of London is also featured in a one-stop solution named “Alna Khelna” along with other two ventures that support multiple operations to promote desi fashion.
